Butler, PA, April 15, 2010
Dr. Carole F. Bitter, President and CEO of Friedman’s Freshmarkets announced today that Donald A. Eury was named new store manager for the Friedman’s Freshmarket at Chicora. Prior to his promotion, Donald was a co-manager at Friedman’s Freshmarket at Greater Butler Mart. He replaces Cheryl Knox, who resigned to spend more time with her family.

Don Eury is a 1987 graduate of Butler Senior High School, and a 1995 graduate of Butler County Community College. Donald started working at the former Center Avenue Shop-n-Save after graduation in 1987. He worked his way up from the stockroom to management in 1999. He started at Friedman’s in 2000. Donald brings to us his knowledge and experience of the business.

Shortly after the Saxonburg store fire in 2004, Donald stepped in to work at all the Friedman’s stores. He attributes a lot of his knowledge to working with the many store managers at Friedman’s, and finding his own niche with the experience gained. Donald believes that the advantage of locally owned supermarkets is the personal touch that the employees share with customers. “People who shop at our stores have been our customers for years. They are very loyal, and we know many of them by name. That is very important in the industry today. People want to see a friendly face, and to be greeted. It makes them feel welcome.”

Donald lives in Butler, and enjoys going out with friends, movies, watching sports, and traveling.
